In a non-emergency
- Call 114 14 or go to the nearest police station.
When you call 114 14, you will have a number of choices in an interactive voice menu. If you choose to make a report, a police operator will answer. The operator taking the report will write down your information and make out a report.

Report as soon as possible
Report a crime as soon as possible after it has occurred. Where a serious crime is involved, it is especially important that the police also investigate the crime scene.
Have the following information available when reporting a crime:
- The national ID number of the person making the report;
- The national ID number of the crime victim;
- The insurance company of the plaintiff;
- The production number, frame number, IMEI number, or similar information of the goods that were either lost or stolen;
- and the time and place of the crime, as exact as possible.
Go to the nearest police station if the crime is serious
If you have been the victim of assault, illegal threats, or other serious crime, you should go to a police station. The police have a better chance of solving the crime by documenting the clues and injuries.
It’s important to report to the police
It is a matter of concern to the police that all crimes are reported. There are many reasons why you, as a private individual, should report a crime to the police if you have been a victim:
- It’s a condition for being able to solve the crime.
- Your insurance company may be required to compensate you.
- It will be easier for you to get back any stolen goods the police find.
- It is important that crime statistics be correct. It helps the police to see trends and tendencies in society, as well as to inform people about crime and to prevent it.
Tipping off the police
The police need the public’s help to be able to prevent crime, fight crime, and make society safe. You can submit information to the police in several different ways. You do not need to leave your name.
