International cooperation
International police cooperation plays an increasingly important role in police operations all around the world.

The Swedish Police work internationally in the following four areas which currently exert a major, direct impact on day-to-day policing in the country.
- International operative police cooperation concerns the cooperation of the Swedish Police with the police organisations of other countries within the framework of, for example, criminal investigations (directly or through Europol), Schengen cooperation, Interpol or the Nordic police cooperation system.
- International strategic police cooperation brings the participation of the Swedish Police in the coordination of working groups and institutions, primarily within EU, that affect Swedish Police operations. These activities improve the preconditions for member state police organisations to work together to fight increasingly diversified and organised cross-border criminality.
- International development cooperation sees the Swedish Police supporting other police organisations in their efforts to become more democratic and effective. Swedish Police help cooperating countries to create police organisations that respect and protect human rights, follow the rule of law, are accountable and give highest priority to the need of their citizens. This cooperation also contributes to individual and organisational learning within the Swedish Police.
- Peacekeeping and conflict prevention operations move Swedish Police officers into peacekeeping, security and conflict prevention activities all over the world within the framework of organisations such as UN, EU and OSCE.
